Anise - Common- Pimpinella anisum

Annual. Anise is a herbaceous plant growing to 3 feet or more. The fruit is an oblong shaped seed, usually referred to as "aniseed". Soil & Water: Anise plants grow best in light, fertile well drained soil.

Planting & Growing: The seeds should be planted as soon as the ground warms up in the spring.

Harvesting & Storage: When the flowers have faded, the seed heads will turn greyish brown in the fall. They usually will only ripen after warm summers. Take the seed heads off and put in a brown paper bag. They should burst open and then you can store them in an airtight jar out of direct sunlight.
